Friends of Highland Music at Belladrum Festival 2017

On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August 2017, a ‘Come & Try’ Traditional Music Marquee was staged at the annual Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in Beauly. The marquee was advertised and marketed as ‘An Teanta Chèilidh’, and was a joint venture between Friends of Highland Music and Fèisean nan Gàidheal.

It was an opportunity for children, adults and families to try a variety of traditional musical instruments in the informal and relaxed setting of a marquee with five musicians and four guest helpers. The instruments that were offered were: Chanter, Bodhran, Fiddle, Guitar, Accordion, Whistle and Gaelic Song.

The tutors and guest helpers had a great opportunity to connect with the approx 300 children, adults and families who came along to the tent over the two day event – hopefully making an impact on them and their desire to play a new instrument/learn Gaelic/contact Friends of Highland Music or Fèisean nan Gàidheal.
